Water in Yard - A Natural Issue or Plumbing Problem ?
ASK THE PLUMBER: We have ground water coming up in the front yard. Is this a plumbing problem? If it is, who can we contact to diagnose and fix the issue?
ANSWER: If you are sure it is natural ground water and not a septic tank or water service line that is causing the problem, you probably need to speak to your local department of natural resources. In many situations like this, Roto-Rooter plumbers can work with homeowners to install a French drain system. A French drain (sometimes called trench drain, rock drain, weeping tile, etc.) is a tube with perforations that allow water to flow in and filters that keep sediment out. These drains redirect surface water to a different area, such as a curbside gutter.
If it is not natural water, contact your local licensed Roto-Rooter plumbing specialists for leak detection. Outdoor pipe leaks can have a number of different culprits, from tree roots to old broken pipes to septic tank problems. We utilize video cameras to identify all types of problems, such as root intrusion and pipe that is misaligned, broken, punctured, off-grade or corroded. The camera also identifies grease buildup, leaks and obstructions. The inspection can be repeated after any service is performed to verify that the line has been properly cleaned or repaired.
